    1. Go to the Home tab. 
    2. Click on the Show Hide character button

    Once you switch on the button, you will get to see a symbol on the screen. The symbol will indicate the point where the Enter key is hit on the keyboard so that you can start a new paragraph. 

    However, if you see many such little symbols, it means the Enter key has been pressed many times. So, you have to remove them. For this, select the symbols over and press the Delete key. By doing so, you will be able to delete the empty paragraphs and you can also remove the extra space, eventually removing the page you do not want to the blank page.

    Once you show or hide the characters button, you will be able to see the position where the page break has been inserted. It is a simple process to create a Page Break. Select the insertion point where you desire to include so that you can start afresh on a new page. 

    Once you do so, a page break symbol will be seen. So, just delete the symbol and in this way, you will be able to remove the page break. This will also allow you to bring the text back again together. So, it is imperative that if you prefer to do away with the extra pages, you will want to get rid of the page breaks you no longer want.

    When you are not able to view any paragraph marker or even the page break symbols, try checking pagination settings. 

    So, how will you go about it? First of all, you have to click anywhere inside the paragraph that is at the top of the page next to the present one. This is the space, the paragraph that is seen after the big gap. 

    You must right-click on the paragraph & select Paragraph. Once the Paragraph (dialog box) is open, then click on the Page Break and Line Break tabs. Next, go to the Page break before option and click on OK. By now you must be seeing that the big gap in the paragraphs has disappeared already.

    It is common to have extra pages if there are section breaks in the document. However, before doing away with them, you must be careful. Deleting section breaks might as well cause you to delete the headers and footers too that are present in the previous section.

    Section break means that it will “section” the document you are on that allows you to have various page formats in different sections. 

    Before deleting the section break, go to the header and footer or page number settings. Click on the Yes button if you want to connect it to the header and footer of the earlier or previous section.

    It is a well-known fact that the empty pages are positioned towards the end of a Word document, once you remove the text. Deleting the pages is advantageous because by doing so, you do need to print them or convert them into PDF format. 

    If you are using the latest version of MS Word, these pages get auto-deleted. However, make sure that your document does not have any character. This is because if there is a period, the page will continue to remain active.

    If you want to delete a page that is full of content, all you have to do is select the entire content and press the delete key or backspace. The content can be just about anything, comprising graphs, text, images, and videos. 

    Select only that content you want to delete. If you fail to do so, you might end up deleting all content and unless you have an automatic backup set up, you will not be able to retrieve any data. 

    And if you want to be extra careful, first take a backup of the document you want to edit or format and then work either on the copy of the original. 

    MS Word is a user-friendly application and will allow you to carry out all your document-related activities.
